Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease which carries a significant progressive disease burden and can be very disruptive to quality of life. A significant proportion of patients with moderate to severe UC experience an inadequate, or loss of response to existing therapies. A substantial unmet medical need remains for these patients.
